The World Marathon Majors consists of 6 of the most well-known and renowned marathons around the world, taking place in:
- Tokyo
- Boston
- London
- Berlin
- Chicago
- New York City
It’s an annual marathon competition where runners compete to see who is the best, taking into account how everyone performs across all 6 events as a series. I won’t be running all 6 in 1 year anytime soon 🤣, but it’s definitely on my bucket list to run each and every one of these.
I love these large marathons. They bring together mind-blowingly talented runners from all over the world, plus they draw out the largest spectator crowds. There’s a special energy in the air that’s a mix of anticipation, pride, and awe.
I’ve only run 2 on the list so far (Boston and Chicago) but I’m eager for the chance to compete in the other cities. Especially Berlin. I had a running buddy named Corey a few years ago who was around my running level, who PR’d at Berlin with a 2:45. And a 2:45 is exactly what I’m aiming for. It’s the golden ticket for the Olympic Marathon Trials (the B standard, but a golden ticket nonetheless).
I’m still building back up and slowly ramping up my mileage. I know I won’t be vying for these marathons in the next few months, but hey, it’s still nice to dream 🤩
Happy weekend, friends. Work hard and dream big.
