Weekly Check-in: October 1

Enjoying that post-Dreamforce, post-run, post-stretch glow

6 days away from my first half marathon in over 2 years 😬 I’m feeling pretty good about my training, but my calf/ankle has been acting up. It all started about a week ago when it started feeling sore. It doesn’t quite hurt, but if I stand on my left leg, I definitely feel like my calf is a bit weak. On Saturday, I planned to run 13 miles, but my calf wasn’t feeling great, so I cut my workout short after 3 miles.

Instead, I came home and iced my leg, then elevated it for another 20 minutes. I’ll continue to ice it, roll it out with The Stick, and elevate it this week. I plan on taking it easy this week with my taper and carbo loading, so hopefully my calf heals in time for Sunday. Wish me luck!

2 Weeks of PTO

In other news, I’m taking 2 weeks off from work! 🙌🏻 This week, I’ll be focusing on getting more rest, sleep, and self-care. I’m staying at home with some good ol’ relaxation. It’ll be so nice to rejuvenate and step away from the usual hustle bustle of work.

Then the following week, I’ll be traveling to 3 of Utah’s national parks. My boyfriend and I will be hiking Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, and Arches National Park. I love getting out in nature and away from the city. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE big cities like San Francisco, but getting in touch with Mother Nature always helps re-energize me.

My Plan for this Week

Can’t wait to wear leggings every day this week with a comfy tee. Aww yeahh. I know I’m “on vacation,” but I don’t want to spend all my free time with Netflix. I want to take this time to reflect on my goals for the remainder of 2018 and the steps I need to take to achieve them.

What I’m Grateful For

I’m grateful for friends who listen when you talk about your dreams and vision. The ones who lift you up when you’re feel unmotivated and frustrated by setbacks. The ones who make you feel like you’re not going crazy, or at least not going crazy alone 🤪 I’m thankful for my friends who keep me inspired and working hard. I often feel consumed by the need to optimize everything, to maximize my productivity and efficiency, to make sure not a single minute is wasted, that I often forget how important it is to just simply relax. I met up with friends from high school and college this past weekend, and it was so refreshing to catch up and share stories. Hope you all have a wonderful week and have a lot to feel grateful for!
