11 more days!

It was rainy today, hence the wet dirt down my calves.

Hey guys. It’s me again. I know. It’s been a while. I’ve been really busy training, and now I’m gearing up for attempt #2 at the OTQ. 😅

11 more days until the CIM, my next race. It’ll be my 4th time running it, and I think I’m the most prepared I’ve ever been for a marathon.

I did a speed workout today at Kezar. 3x3200m at 6:10 pace with 2 minutes of rest after each set. It felt good. It’s been raining on and off the past few days, and expected to continue at least onto next week. I lucked out because once I got to Kezar, the rain started to clear up. But the track was still wet, had little puddles throughout, and also clumps of debris washed onto it from the rain. It wasn’t great, but it definitely could have been much worse.

It’s also starting to get chilly here. Note that this is just by SF standards, so folks from the east coast or midwest may consider this pretty warm. But still. It’s like low 50s/high 40s. Now, I’m just 100% into my heated blanket and new chair heat pad thing my sister gave me. And soups. I’ve been cooking this Instant Pot Lentil Soup for everyone who is willing to try it! Seriously, if you have an Instant Pot, you need to try this recipe. So cozy and warms you right up!

Speaking of food, I went to Whole Foods today after my Kezar workout. It’s my usual track workout routine—head out to Kezar, do my thing, stretch, change, and mosey over to Whole Foods to treat myself. It’s important to fuel up on carbs and protein within 30 minutes after your workout, when your muscles are rebuilding.

Whole Foods was poppin’! I was pretty surprised for a Wednesday early afternoon, but then again, it’s the day before Thanksgiving, so it makes sense. Anyway, they didn’t have any meat at the hot foods bar, so I decided to get a burrito. After waiting 15 minutes for them to make it, I am greeted by this.

This is what Whole Foods calls a burrito. This flat thing is supposed to be a burrito. Notice it looks nothing like this: 🌯. Also, check out the notes I jotted onto my hand. They’re the splits I was trying to hit today.

Yeah! That thing that they tried to pass off as a burrito. Oh god. I know the person behind the counter was already stressed, and I was hungry, so I just took it. But it was hilarious.

Seriously, who cuts a burrito in half like this? All of its glorious guts of carnitas, sour cream, rice, beans, and salsa gushing out. Nooooo.

If you’re wondering if I still put my face into that mess and ate it in the parking lot of Whole Foods with a spoon because they ran out of forks, then… you’ll be absolutely right. And it tasted great 😁

I’m taking this week and next week off from work, so I can chillax and fully prepare for the race. Is this crazy? Am I extreme? Yes and yes. That OTQ is mine!

  1. Go Anna! I’m rooting for you and am glad you are starting to blog again because I would read it! Well deserved two weeks off and much luck for the race – you’ll crush it. We can meet up after. :D
